dc.description.abstractThis study aims to explain the translation techniques used in Chinese restaurant menu books in Medan City based on Molina & Albir's (2002) translation techniques. The research method used is descriptive qualitative to analyze and describe the translation techniques found in Chinese restaurant menu books in Medan in the form of phrases and clauses. The data were collected using observation and documentation methods. Based on the data analysis, the result shows that there are 9 types of translation techniques with a total of 38 data. The translation techniques include borrowing technique with 11 data, description technique with 7 data, adaptation technique with 6 data, reduction technique with 4 data, transposition technique with 4 data, modulation technique with 2 data, discursive creation technique with 2 data, compensation technique with 1 data, and particularization technique with 1 data.en_US
