Mangroves are coastal ecosystems that have extreme environmental conditions such as tidal fluctuations, high salinity, and muddy soil. Avicennia alba is one of the mangrove vegetation species that can survive and has a unique root system. The role of mangroves in storing and absorbing carbon dioxide is crucial in preventing the greenhouse effect. The purpose of this research is to analyze the balance of A. alba roots in the mesocosm environment and to determine the amount of CO2 flux in the mesocosm environment of A. alba seedlings. Mesocosm is an experiment that can replicate space, time, and biological complexity, thus potentially improving predictions. Windows of Opportunity (WoO) are disturbance free periods to determine the intrinsic timing of organisms in their growth process. The growth comparison of A. alba in this study uses 10% an d 30% salinity, as well as waves treatment and no waves treatment. The growth results of A. alba seedlings with 10% salinity are better than those with 30% salinity. In addition, A. alba grows better in an environment without waves than in a wavy environme nt. The amount of carbon dioxide flux during high tide is higher than during low tide because the concentration of O2 in the substrate decreases during high tide due to the diffusion process being inhibited from the atmosphere, causing an increase in CO2 concentration.en_US
