dc.description.abstract | Background: Yellow chrysanthemum (Glebionis Segetum (L.) Fourr) is one of the
ornamental plants cultivated in Raya Village, Karo Regency. Chrysanthemum
flowers can be used as tea and medicine. Characterization is carried out with the
aim of ensuring the uniformity of simplisia quality in order to meet the
requirements of simplisia and extract standards.
Objective: This study aims to determine the characterization of simplisia and
ethanol extracts of yellow chrysanthemum flowers (Glebionis Segetum (L.) Fourr)
obtained in Raya Village, Karo Disrict.
Method: Characterization of yellow chrysanthemum flower simplisia was carried
out at the Biology Laboratory, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of North Sumatra.
Macroscopic test observation of simplisia, determination of water content of
simplisia and ethanol extract, determination of total ash content of simplisia and
ethanol extract, determination of acid insoluble ash content of simplisia and
ethanol extract, determination of water soluble content of simplisia and
determination of ethanol soluble content of simplisia.
Results: The results showed that yellow chrysanthemum flowers obtained a
moisture content of 7.92, ethanol extract moisture content of 15.94%, water
soluble juice content of 20.79%, ethanol soluble juice content of 15.38%, total ash
content of 4.45%, total ash content of ethanol extract 3.19%, acid insoluble ash
content of 2.19% and acid insoluble ash content of ethanol extract 1.48%.
Consclusion: Simplisia of yellow chrysanthemum flowers only 4 are qualified
against 5 parameters of simplisia characterization testing, namely testing acid
insoluble ash content does not meet the requirements while the characterization of
ethanol extracts of yellow chrysanthemum flower simplisia only 1 is qualified
against 3 parameters of ethanol extract characterization testing, namely water
content and acid insoluble ash content. | en_US |
