Analisis Performansi dan Kearifan Lokal Tari Eisaa pada Masyarakat Okinawa – Jepang

Abstract

This research discusses the traditional dance, Eisaa in Okinawan society, which is a dance that was originally only performed during the Obon ritual, but now thanks to its popularity, the Eisaa dance is often performed on days other than Obon day. The Eisaa dance has performances and local wisdom values that are deeply embedded in the culture of the Okinawan people. The aim of this research is to describe the performance and local wisdom values contained in the Eisaa dance in Okinawan society. The research method is descriptive analysis and library study methods. The results of the research show that the performance in the Eisaa dance consists of several stages which basically will be carried out by all Eisaa groups starting from the opening to the closing. And also the place and time for the Eisaa dance to be performed in various places such as in an open field, stage or also in the middle of the street on Obon Day or outside the Obon ritual celebrations held in Japan. Then, the local wisdom values in the Eisaa dance consist of three, namely the relationship between the Eisaa dance and God, nature and humans. The relationship between the Eisaa dance and God is found on the day it is performed, the songs that are sung and also the movements that have the meaning of a relationship to God. The connection to nature consists of many Eisaa dance movements which are based on natural movements such as waves, wind and so on, and the songs used also tell stories about the natural beauty of Okinawa. Finally, the relationship between Eisaa dance and humans is found in the human relations that occur in the Eisaa group which can maintain closeness between fellow members and even between other Eisaa groups.
