The Effect of Reality Group Counseling on Reducing Future Anxiety in Correctional Children at The Special Child Development Institution (LPKA) Class I Medan
Abstract
Correctional students (Andikpas) are children who serve their sentences through guidance and education provided by the Special Development Institute for Children (LPKA). Andikpas experience changes in life, such as starting the adaptation process, having to be away from family and friends, and having to live life according to LPKA rules, this causes psychological problems such as future anxiety. One of the efforts in reducing future anxiety is reality group counseling. This study aims to see the effect of reality group counseling on reducing future anxiety in correctional students in Special Institutions for Children (LPKA). This research uses a quasi-experimental quantitative approach conducted for 6 days and has a duration of 60 minutes. The participants in this study were correctional students in LPKA Class I Medan who had a medium-high future anxiety score of 10 people who were randomly selected and then randomly selected into experimental and control groups. Data analysis in this study used the Mann-Whitney U Test and the N-Gain Score test. The results of the analysis in the experimental and control groups showed no significant effect (p value (0.138) > 0.05). The N-Gain Score results show that the effectiveness of providing reality group counseling treatment is in the moderate category with a percentage of 53.39% and is in the interpretation of less effective. The results of this study indicate that there is no significant effect on reality group counseling on reducing future anxiety in Andikpas.
