Future anxiety that occurs has a negative impact on Correctional children or usually abbreviated as Andikpas, including difficulty making decisions, forgetfulness, eating and sleeping disorders. The various negative impacts arising from future anxiety are of course very detrimental to Andikpas. This makes demands that future anxiety in Andikpas can be reduced. One effort to reduce future anxiety is self-affirmation. Self-affirmation is self reflection in which a person will reflect on important values for himself. This technique itself focuses on the cognitive aspects of a person by assessing, living, and writing down core values for the sake of being able to function properly when facing the threat of future anxiety. This research used a quasi-experimental quantitative approach that provided self-affirmation treatment with a duration of 60 minutes for 6 consecutive days. The participants in this research were Andikpas who had moderate to high future anxiety scores, totaling 10 people who were randomly selected and then randomized into the control group and the experimental group. This research was explained using the Mann-Whitney U Test and Effect Size Cohen’s D Test. The results of the analysis using the experimental group and control group did not show a effect (0.387 > 0.05). The results of the effect size Cohen’s d test show the providing self-affirmation is in the large category (d = 0.823).en_US
