    Abstract
Oryza sativa is the staple food of Indonesian people. However, to increase rice production, many obstacles must be overcome, including the distribution of rice pests. This study aims to determine the distribution of black ladybird pests, and the role status of arthropod phylum in Sedar Street, Sawah Alley, VB Hamlet, T.Nibung-Batang Kuis Village, Deli Serdang Sub-district, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra Province. The insect identification process was carried out at the Pest Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, University of North Sumatra from June 2023 to September 2023. This study used a Factorial Randomized Group Design (RAK) with 4 types of traps including: light traps, yellow sticky traps, blue ball traps, and red triangle traps. Where, this study also used 3 varieties of rice, namely: O. nivara Var. Pamera, O. sativa Var. Inpari 32, and O. indica Var. Jeliteng with Jajar Legowo 21 planting system. The number and types of arthropod phyla caught in the planting area of the three varieties of rice were 10 Orders, 29 Families, 31 Genera, and 12409 individuals. The calculation of diversity index (H') consist of (H'pm=2.47, H'pp=2.48, and H'ph=2.46), species richness index (R') consist of (R'pm=8.29, R'pp=8.41, R'ph=8.33), and evenness index (E') consist of (E'pm=1.43, E'pp=1.42, E'ph=1.43). Based on insects status, the total population of predatory was 8 families, parasitoids 2 families, herbivorous 11 families, pollinator 8 families, and no decomposer insects.
