    Abstract
This research is titled "Representation of Batak Toba Men in the Film Ngeri Ngeri Sedap." The study aims to explore how the representation of Batak Toba men is portrayed in the work of Bene Dion Rajagukguk's film, Ngeri-Ngeri Sedap. The research employs a qualitative descriptive method, requiring the researcher to develop arguments in understanding the research object. Data collected for this study consists of scenes from the film accessible through the Netflix streaming service, supported by relevant literature references. The research analysis utilizes Roland Barthes' semiotic approach, comprising three stages of analysis: denotation, connotation, and myth. The research findings stem from the analysis of several scenes in the film, examined at denotative, connotative, and mythic levels. Batak Toba men are depicted in the film through their daily habits within the family context, which has long been a part of Batak Toba culture. This representation encompasses the firm and assertive nature of Batak Toba men, marriages with ethnic groups outside their own, considered contrary to tradition, as well as the responsibility of caring for parents in old age and passing down the family home to the youngest son. The film also portrays the protective and nurturing attitude of the eldest child in the Batak Toba family towards their siblings.
