    Abstract
This research investigates the linguistic landscape of Miyakojima, Okinawa Prefecture, Japan. Linguistic landscape refers to linguistic objects that signify public space. The purpose of this study is to explain the function and form of the linguistic landscape on Miyakojima. This study used a descriptive method by collecting landscape photographs and data through personal documentation. The theories used are linguistic landscape theory and sociolinguistic theory. The data for the research was obtained by observing the marks found on Miyakojima's main road using the author's smartphone camera during an internship program in Japan. Based on the results of the analysis conducted, the linguistic landscape in Miyako Island was found to have three language models: monolingual, bilingual, and multilingual. The mark comes in two forms: top-down and bottom-up. The mark has an information function, a symbolic function or a social function, and an educational function. The languages used were Japanese, English, and local languages. From the research conducted, the author concluded. The linguistic form of the linguistic landscape on Miyako Island in Okinawa Prefecture, Japan is dominated by the use of a monolingual language model, that is, by the use of the Japanese national language, and by a bottom-up form.
