Gubahan Ritual Gubang Melayu Tanjung Balai: Fantasia Renaissance & Abad 21 (Penciptaan Berbasis Penelitian)

Abstract

Gubang Ritual Composition is a work of research-based musical art creation inspired by the cultural ritual phenomenon of the Tanjung Balai Malay community. The creation of this work uses three main concepts, namely (1) musical ideas: starting from the phenomenon of the Gubang ritual, (2) Fantasia musical form and musical styles in the Renaissance era, (3) playing techniques and writing forms using 21st century techniques and notation. Research methods which is used using interactive qualitative research with theories of interpretation, revitalization and re-interpretation to develop a creative idea in creating a new musical work. This musical work is in the form of three-part music with a mini orchestra format combined with traditional Malay musical instruments.
