Relational Dialectics of Female K-Pop Boyband Fans with Parents and Friends in Medan City
Abstract
Research on relational dialectics aims to analyze the process of relational
dialect ics of K-pop boyband fa'ns with parents, analyze the process of relational
dialectics of K-pop boyband fans with friends, and analyze the obstacles of
relational dialectics of female K-pop boyband fans with parents and friends. The
theories and concepts in this research are interpersonal communication, rational
dialectics, interpersonal deception theory, and darmalurgy. The research
methodology in this study is qualitative research with a constructivist paradigm.
The subjects in this study are K-pop boybandfans, with informants selected based
o n several characteristics. The informants in this study are 4 female K-pop boyband
fans who act as informants and 4 others as triangulation. The data collected are
analyzed using three activities found by Miles Huberman and Saldana: data
condensation, data presentation, and conclusion. The results of the research show
that the process of relational dialectics of female K-Pop Boybandfans with parents
and friends includes four basic elements and four assumptions present in the
perspective of contradic tion dialectics. The contradictions in this relationship are
shown by different views on K-Pop and organized by the four informant r esearchers
through three categories of interact ion dialectics. The relational dialectic obstacles
that occur betwee n the researcher informants and their parents and friends are
contextual, thus the two categories in contextual dialectics explain that there is
public discourse believed to be an ideal to be pursued by the informants, but in
reality, the informants have not been able to fa/fill those needs.
