Peran Komunikasi Interpersonal pada Pasangan Pernikahan Dini dalam Pembentuk Keluarga Bahagia dan Sejahtera di Kelurahan Medan Belawan Kecamatan Medan Belawan

Abstract

Early marriage couples have the potential to experience communication barriers, especially those related to interpersonal interactions. This study discusses the role of interpersonal communication in early marriage couples in forming happy and prosperous families in the Medan Belawan Village area, Medan Belawan District. The research method used is a qualitative research method by covering the data collection process, data verification process, and data analysis. The research sources used are arranged in two types of sources, namely primary sources consisting of informant interview data and early marriage data from KUA Medan Belawan District. Then the data analysis technique used is to use the triangulation method which aims to strengthen one information data with other data. While the data analysis technique used is a comparison of research sources with approaches and theories in communication science. The theories used include adaptation theory, accommodation, and self- disclosure . All three theories serve as analytical aids in dissecting the role of communication in early marriage couples. This study concludes that in early marriage couples in forming a happy and prosperous family, interpersonal communication is needed, especially in the early phases of marriage. Good communication will begin with a process of self-openness and acceptance of each other which has an impact on each other's accommodating attitude. However, the nature of self-openness in early marriage couples in Medan Belawan Village, Medan Belawan District is quite low, which results in the emergence of potential communication barriers that end in several household problems such as domestic violence and divorce. However, barriers in communication in early marriage couples will decrease in line with the age of marriage and the process of self- disclosure at certain phases in each couple.
