The pot research in the screen house examined the utilization of organic
materials (biochar and chicken manure) with liquid smoke on the chemical
properties of Ultisol soil and the growth of corn plants (Zea mays L.). This research
used a factorial randomized block design (RAK) with 2 factors. The first factor is
organic material: biochar (20 tonnes/ha), chicken manure (20 tonnes/ha), and a
combination of biochar (10 tonnes/ha) with chicken manure (10 tonnes/ha); The
second factor is the concentration of liquid smoke: liquid smoke (0%), liquid smoke
(1%), and liquid smoke (2%); and has 3 repetitions (blocks). The parameters
observed were pH H2O, C-organic, P-available, Al-dd, CEC, plant height, shoot
weight, root weight, and P-plant. The results of the research show that the use of
organic chicken coop materials is the best in improving soil chemical properties
such as soil pH, organic C, reducing Al-dd, and p-available; and plant growth such
as plant height, shoot dry weight, root dry weight and P uptake. The best use of
liquid smoke is in increasing plant growth. Biochar+chicken manure with liquid
smoke has the best interaction in increasing plant height and crown weight.
