    Abstract
    Wire ropes are a critical component in various lifting systems, such as elevators and docks. They operate at high tension and often bear varying loads. Failures in lifting equipment can be fatal, threatening human safety and causing significant maternal losses. Therefore, it is important that all components of lifting machinery, including steel ropes, are made of high-quality materials. This research aims to analyze the strength of Wire Rope Hoist used on Ship to Shore Crane at PT Prima Multi Terminal. The main focus of the research is on the Wire Rope Hoist with 6x36 [WRC (Independent Wire Rope Core) construction. The research also includes fatigue life analysis of the wire rope. The analysis was conducted by calculating the stresses generated by various louds, including 40 feet, 20 feet comainers, and the average load lifted by the ship to shore crane. The two methods used to calculate the service life are the Zhitcov method and the Feyrer method. This study aims to determine which method is more suitable in this context. The results showed that the load lifted by the wire rope was well below the maximum permissible load limit, with an actual load of 1,589.4 kg compared to the maximum permissible limit of 8.285 kg. In addition, the results show that the Feyrer method has a higher accuracy rate in calculating the service life of wire ropes, reaching 98.7%, while the Zhitcov method reaches 92.9%.
