The Effect of Lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus) and Torch ginger
(Etlingera elatior) Plant-Based Drinking Water on Broiler Carcasses was
conducted in the cage of the Animal Husbandry Study Program, Faculty of
Agriculture, University of North Sumatra from March to April 2023. The study was
conducted experimentally using a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4
treatments and 5 replicates. The treatments were P0 = Control, P1 = Drinking
water with 25% lemongrass plant decoction, P2 = Drinking water with 25% torch
nginger plant decoction, P3 = Drinking water with 25% lemongrass and torch
ginger plant decoction. The parameters observed were slaughter weight, carcass
weight and broiler carcass percentage.
The results of the research showed that providing drinking water based on
lemongrass and torch ginger as well as a combination of these two ingredients
produced an average slaughter weight of 1832.85 g/head, carcass weight of
1423.33 g/head, and a broiler carcass percentage of 76.77%. The results of the
analysis showed that giving all these treatments gave results that were not
significantly different in slaughter weight, carcass weight and broiler carcass
percentage.
