Medanais theacapital of theaprovinceaof North Sumatra, awhich isarecognized as the third largest city inaIndonesia based on the Central Bureau of Statistics for the City of Medan with a population that continues to experience an increase of 2.3%. The number of residents who need housing every year is increasing in the city and this increase in population will have an impact on the level of population density. This trend leads to an increase in the number of requests for housing as a basic need. However, this causes the availability of land for housing to decrease and become limited in Medan City, so there is a need for a transition from landed houses/horizontal housing to vertical housing to overcome this limited land. Therefore, to answer the need for housing, it is necessary to build a Low Rise Apartment. Low Rise Apartment is a small-scale apartment or apartment that is built not too high because it prioritizes the comfort and experience of living in a vertical dwelling. Low-rise apartments include vertical dwellings of no more than 4 floors. On the one hand, the development of society towards vertical housing creates various side effects, such as a lack of quality of social interaction between residents. Currently, vertical housing developments only provide a few shared facilities, thereby creating a residential lifestyle with an individualistic lifestyle. One solution to this problem is to initiate vertical residential innovations (Low Rise Apartments) that are efficient in land use and pay attention to environmental impacts, with qualities resembling landed houses. With the need for the provision of green open space in the form of parks and the provision of adequate facilities and infrastructure to meet the needs in terms of housing. By applying the Modern Minimalist Architecture Approach it aims to present a modern minimalist residential building that will attract the interest of the community, especially the City of Medan in order to be able to have a residence with a clean, modern, beautiful design and still have quality environmentally friendly designs according to standards. The low rise apartment design has two design site options, namely: near the toll road leading to the Helvetia Toll Gate and on Jalan Asrama, Medan Helvetia. Both of these areas have vacant land that is not utilized so that it has the potential as a residential area. However, this area has limited facilities and infrastructure so that the design of this apartment will provide various facilities that can meet the needs of the residence. The residential area also creates a residential lifestyle with the concept of Urban Living, which is a living concept that follows modern civilization in urban areas but still pays attention to the importance of health and environmental sustainability.en_US
