Perancangan Pusat Budaya Sumatera Utara di Kota Medan dengan Pendekatan Arsitektur Perilaku
Design of the North Sumatra Cultural Center in Medan City using a Behavioral Architecture Approach
Abstract
The design of a cultural center is needed to establish a place that can
become a center for seeking information and education in order to increase the
public's insight and exposure to the culture of their respective regions. In North
Sumatra, there are many interesting cultures and must be preserved by the
community, especially the younger generation. As a cultural center, spatial
planning and circulation must uphold the relation between the environment and
human behavior of the people who will visit.
The cultural center that uses an architectural approach to behavior will not
only become an educational center, but also a safe and comfortable place for people
to learn about the culture of North Sumatra. The behavioral architectural approach
in this case plays a role in facilitating visitor navigation in and around the building,
as well as maximizing space for social interactions, to be able to create a strong
culture community.
In achieving harmony between the design of a cultural center with a
behavioral approach, the stages of planning, literature study, comparative study,
design analysis, design concept and final design are carried out. This design is
expected to increase public interest and knowledge of the culture of North Sumatra
and create a comfortable and enjoyable learning and socialization atmosphere.
