    Abstract
The research was aimed to evaluate the growth, production, and quality of three shallot varieties at several doses of sulfur nutrient application. The research was conducted at the Balai Benih Induk Palawija, Tanjung Slamat, Deli Serdang Regency from September to December 2022. This research used a factorial randomized block design with two treatment factors. The first factor is the shallot varieties which consist of three, namely Kramat 1, Maja Cipanas and Batu Ijo. The second factor is the sulfur dosage which consists of four, namely 0, 35, 70, and 100 kg/Ha. The results showed that there were differences in growth, production, quality, and S uptake between the Kramat 1, Maja Cipanas and Batu Ijo varieties. Significant differences were seen in the number of leaves and shoots, stover weight, L* and a* color space of the skin, anthocyanin content and tuber S uptake. The Batu Ijo variety produced the fewest number of leaves and shoots and produced the highest stover weight, a* (reddish) color space value, and tuber S uptake. The Kramat 1 variety produces the highest wet weight of tubers and is recommended for the research area, especially during periods of high rainfall. Sulfur dosage had no significant effect on growth, production, quality, dry weight, and S uptake of plants as well as soil pH and available S after harvest. The interaction between variety and sulfur dosage only had a significant effect on the uptake of shallot bulbs. The highest tuber uptake was produced by the Batu Ijo variety which was applied with 100 kg/ha of sulfur.
