Pengaruh Pola Kebiasaan Masyarakat terhadap Kelimpahan Mikrofiber pada Air Cucian Masyarakat di Sekitar Sungai Deli Kota Medan

Abstract

Microplastics are a new pollutant and are made of synthetic polymers. Deli River is one of the main rivers in the city of Medan that flows in urban and suburban areas. This study aims to analyze the type, amount, and abundance of microfibers in washing water, analyze the community's habit patterns which include the volume of water use, washing methods and use of chemicals when washing in the community, and analyze the relationship of microfiber abundance to the community's habit patterns. Sampling was carried out at six location segments based on the SNI Number. 6989.59.2008 and preparation in the laboratory using a vacuum filter and a desiccator. Microplastic fiber types were identified by FTIR and microscopy, the number was identified by microscopy. Analysis of the relationship patterns of community habits tested by SPSS software and significance test by Pearson Correlation at a 95% confidence level. The results showed that the washing water of the community around the Deli River contains Polyester, Polyamide and Polyacrilic with a predominance of fiber form. The average abundance of microfibers in the washing water of the Deli River community is 2627.5 particles/person/washing for manual washing water and 3985.9 particles/person/washing for washing machine water. The abundance of microfibers has a positive correlation with the pattern of people's habits towards water use and washing methods and has a negative correlation with surfactant levels. Microfibers in the washing water of the Sungai Deli community in the city of Medan come from primary microplastics.
