In essence, manufacturing companies utilize a diverse range of materials, which
inevitably leads to excessive waste in the production process. One of which is the
production of agricultural processing machines. One of these companies, UKM
NASA Karya Teknik, located on Karya Wisata Streets, aims to meet the demand for
agricultural processing machines. In response to the increasing demand for
Chopper Shredder, the company has ramped the production up. However, the rising
consumer demand for this machine has resulted in inefficiencies in the
manufacturing process, particularly in the overexecution of activities and poor
workplace allocation, leading to waiting times—instances where individuals are
idle, waiting for processes handled by other operators. Therefore, this study was
conducted to identify and eliminate non-value-added activities. The research
employs a lean approach with the Value Stream Mapping method and is analyzed
using the 5W+1H method. Data collection involves calculating the average time
for each production activity description, processed using Process Activity Mapping
tools to identify non-value-added activities. Process Activity Mapping in the current
state reveals non-value-added activities, such as three inspection activities and one
delay activity. The results of activity improvement show a 6% increase in the
percentage of value-added activities, from 50% to 56%, and a reduction in
processing time by 1,824.43 minutes, from 3,003.43 minutes to 1,179 minutes.
