Promotional Strategies at The Binjai City Library
Abstract
This final assignment was aimed to investigate the library's promotional activities
at the Binjai City Library Service. This information became the primary source for
this assignment. The data were gathered through a set of literature reviews,
interviews, documentation, and observation. The researcher found that the Binjai
City Library Service categorizes its promotional activities into five aspects: 1)
publicizing the library's information, including its vision and mission, activities
and events, historical background, as well as services and facilities, through
printed media (e.g., brochures) and social media advertisements (e.g., Instagram);
2) setting up promotional events, for example, by rewarding the most frequent
library visitors; 3) performing personnel sales by providing face-to-face service to
visitors; 4) organizing public events, such as holding seminars and book
discussions, in collaboration with external parties; and 5) engaging in direct
marketing by using social media platforms and the internet.
