dc.description.abstractThe writing of this paper uses the method of field studies, interviews, literature studies, and documentation conducted at SMP NEGERI 1 MEDAN I MEDAN. The result of this writing is that the SMP NEGERI 1 MEDAN library facilitates all students to read in the library freely, in order to avoid the disaster of lack of reading. Reading is one aspect of language skills that is actively receptive. Reading interest is shown by a strong desire to do reading activities. However, there are still efforts that have not been made, namely giving awards to students who show good achievement in literacy activities. SMP NEGERI I MEDAN should also reward learners who show good achievement in literacy activities, the purpose is to maintain students' interest in reading and to improve reading literacy activities, so that reading literacy activities at SMP NEGERI I MEDAN can successfully achieve their goals.en_US
