Using Social Media to Promote Prima University Library
Abstract
This study was conducted at Prima University Library in Medan, Indonesia. It aimed to investigate the stages of utilizing social media in promotion. Data were collected through an interview, an observation, a study of literature, and documentation. The results show that the university promotion was carried out by planning and giving accurate information about the library collection, library visitors’ responsibilities and rights, library facilities, as well as data that can be accessed by the visitors (user-oriented). However, there are problems in promoting the library through social media, especially in terms of funding, expertise, content competition, and changes in platform algorithms.
