The Effect of Several Concentrations of Paclobutrazol and Doses of Phosporus Fertilizer on the Growth and Production of Cherry Tomatoes
Abstract
Cherry tomato is one of the horticultural crops that has quite large potential in the agricultural sector in Indonesia. Applying paclobutrazol and phosphorus fertilizer is an effort to optimize the production by increasing the fruit yield of cherry tomatoes. This research aims to determine the effect of applying several concentrations of paclobutrazol and doses of phosphorus fertilizer on the growth and production of cherry tomatoes that was conducted at Jalan Eka Surya, Medan Johor District, Medan City at an altitude of ±49 meters above sea level started from September 2023 to December 2023 by using the factorial Randomized Block Design (RAK) with 2 treatment factors. The first factor is the various concentrations of paclobutrazol: 0; 50 ppm; 100 ppm; and 150 ppm. The second factor is the dose of phosphorus fertilizer: 0; 0.5; 0.75; and 1 g/polybag. The results showed that several concentrations of paclobutrazol had a significant effect on plant height aged 2-4 WAT, number of leaves aged 3-5 WAT, flowering age, number of flowers, number of fruit per plant, fruit weight per plant, fruit weight per plot, and harvest age. The treatment with a concentration of 150 ppm produced the best plant production. The dose of phosphorus fertilizer has a significant effect on plant height aged 3-7 WAT, stem diameter aged 5-6 WAT, flowering age, number of flowers per plant, number of fruit per plant, fruit weight per plant, fruit weight per plot, and harvest age. The treatment dose of 1 g/polybag produced the best plant growth and production The interaction of the two treatments had no significant effect on all observed parameters.
