    Abstract
Background : Postmenopausal women usually have hormonal changes and alterations in adipose tissue composition that impact weight gain and obesity. Determining the intricate relationship between hormon es, especially estrogen in the form of estrone, and leptin is crucial for developing an effective strategies to manage weight and reduce the risk of related diseases in postmenopausal women. Methods: This study is an observational analytical research with consecutive sampling method. The subjects were menopausal women divided into two groups based on BMI i.e normal and obese. Measurements of plasma leptin and estrone were conducted for both groups of BMI. The differences of leptin levels in both groups wer e analyzed using Wilcoxon test, while correlations were examined using the Pearson test. The disparity in estrone levels in both groups was analyzed using Mann Whitney test, and its correlation was assessed using Spearman test. Results: The average leptin levels in postmenopausal women with normal BMI and obesity are 17.73±4.96 and 25.46±12.95, respectively, and are statistically significant (p=0.006). The average estrone levels in postmenopausal women with normal BMI and obesity are 943.23±391.79 and 851.3 8±282.23, respectively, but statistically are not significant (p=0.564). A significant positive correlation is found between leptin and BMI (r=0.59; p=<0.001) as well as estrone and BMI (r=0.083; p=0.559). The mean leptin levels based on the length of meno pause <5 years; 5 10 years and >10 years were 21.35±10.48ng/ml; 22.74±11.67ng/ml; 18.17±3.87ng/ml respectively. while estrone was 931.00±416.67ng/mol; 856.26±291.74ng/mol; 925.50±188.17ng/mol Conclusion There was a significant difference in leptin levels while there was no significant difference in estrone levels in both BMI groups. There was a significant positive correlation between leptin levels and BMI. Estrone also had a positive correlation with BMI but not statistically significant
