dc.description.abstract | This study aims to analyze the influence of biophysical aspects, economic aspects,
aspects of location, socio-cultural, institutional, and environmental aspects of the water supply
and the need for clean water in the city of Medan, and formulate models of management and
strategy development of optimal water services in order to improve water needs of different
customers in the city of Medan.
The data used in this study are secondary and primary data obtained from the relevant
agencies and the public in the city of Medan. Secondary data were obtained starting in 1990 -
2012, and primary data obtained by 30 respondents. The analysis model is a structural equation
modeling or Structural Equation Model (SEM), Lisrel PLS (Partial Least Square), decision
makers or models Model Analysis Hierarchy Process (AHP), and a strategic planning model or
Strengths Weaknesses Opportunities Threats Model (SWOT).
The results showed that: (1) biophysical aspects, economic aspects, aspects of location,
socio-cultural, institutional, and environmental aspects in a positive and significant effect on the
water supply and the need for clean water, but not a significant aspect of the location of the water
supply and aspects institutions are not significant to the water needs, (2) the effect of a greater
need for water to provide clean water, compared to the effect of water supply to the needs of
clean water, (3) model of water management to front-run partnership between government and
the private sector. Development of water management strategies to future aggressive human
resources and cooperation of improving water management in order to meet consumer needs
