Pengaruh Sumber Nitrogen Terhadap Pertumbuhan dan Produksi Tanaman Okra Merah (Abelmoschus Esculentus L. Moench)
The Effect of Nitrogen Sources on the Growth and Production of Red Okra Plants (Abelmoschus Esculentus L. Moench)
Abstract
Okra is a highly nutritious vegetable commodity, and is a type of functional vegetable that has many benefits, especially for health, such as red okra which is high in fiber and good for public consumption. However, this plant is still foreign to Indonesia, so the production of okra is still very low, so proper cultivation techniques are needed, such as providing several types of compost as a source of N. The aim of this research is to study the growth and production of red okra (Abelmoschus esculentus L. Moench) on the provision of various nitrogen sources. This research was carried out on the land of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of North Sumatra, Medan at an altitude of ± 25 meters above sea level from July to November 2023, using a non-factorial Randomized Block Design with one treatment, namely by providing various sources of nitrogen: durian peel compost; 75 g/polybag; coffee skin compost: 75 g/polybag; baglog waste compost: 50 g/polybag; water hyacinth compost: 90 g/polybag and urea fertilizer: 1.25 g/polybag. The results showed that the provision of various nitrogen sources had a significant effect on plant height aged 2-15 week after planting (WAP), number of leaves aged 2-15 WAP, number of branches aged 6-15 WAP, stem diameter, fruit diameter, fruit length and fresh fruit weight per treatment plant. the best was K2 (75 g/polybag), root wet weight, root dry weight, the best treatment was K1 (75 g/polybag), and observation of flowering age and harvest age, the fastest treatment was the provision of K5 urea fertilizer (1.25 g/polybag).
