dc.description.abstractThis research aims to determine the phenotypic diversity of the F3 generation resulting from F2 indefendent random so that selection can be carried out based on seed color and corn cob production. This research was carried out on land, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatra Utara, from July to September 2023. In this research analysis of variance was carried out and calculations of Phenotype Diversity Coefficient (KKF) values and heritability values were used as genetic parameters for selection. The observed characters consist of quantitative and qualitative characters. Research shows that the KKF value is quite high in the characteristics of cob weight and number of kernels per cob. All observed characters had high heritability values except for the number of seeds per cob. There is diversity in the qualitative characteristics of seed color, namely mixed colors (purple white), red, and purple.en_US
