    Abstract
Maize (Zea mays) is the second most important food commodity after rice, because maize can be produced for various purposes such as medicine, food and animal feed. The armyworm Spodoptera frugiperda J.E. Smith is an invasive insect that has become a pest in corn crops in Indonesia. This study aims to determine the intensity of S. frugiperda pest attack in 4 villages in Tigabinanga District, namely Perbesi, Kuta Galoh, Kuta Bangun, and Bunga Baru Villages. This study used a survey method with purposive sampling. Observations of damage intensity were made 10 - 45 hst with an observation interval of 1 x 5 days. The results showed that the intensity of damage by S. frugiperda in Bunga Baru village was not significantly different from Perbesi, Kuta Galoh, and Kuta Bangun villages, while Kuta Bangun village was significantly different from Perbesi and Kuta Galoh villages with the highest damage intensity in Kuta Bangun village (10.4%) in the fourth observation. The percentage of damage in Perbesi, Kuta Galoh, Kuta Bangun and Bunga Baru villages was not significantly different. The highest corn yield production was in Perbesi village at 52 kg with an observation area of 100 m² and a total of 500 stems, while the lowest production was in Bunga Baru village at 43 kg with an observation area of 100 m² and a total of 500 stems.
