Pengaruh Konsentrasi Giberelin dan Lama Perendaman terhadap Pematahan Dormansi dan Pertumbuhan Bulbil Porang (Amorphophallus Muelleri Blume)
Effect of Gibberellin Concentration and Immersion Time on Dormancy Breaking and Growth of Bulbil Porang (Amorphophallus muelleri Blume)
Abstract
The porang plant (Amorphophallus muelleri Blume) has become popular for cultivation because market demand is increasing and still needs to be developed. Plant growth regulators are needed to break the dormancy period of porang bulbils and accelerate the growth of shoots and roots of porang plants by soaking them with gibberellin in porang bulbils. This research aims to determine the breaking of dormancy and accelerate the growth of porang bulbil shoots when given concentration and immersion time of Gibberellin. This research was carried out on the land of the Center for Tuber Studies, USU Faculty of Agriculture, Medan, North Sumatra with an altitude of ± 32 meters above sea level from October 2023 to February 2024. This research used a factorial Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) consisting of 2 treatment factor with 3 replications. The first factor is the administration of gibberellin concentrations (0; 500; 1000 and 1500 mg/L). The second factor is the immersion time (4; 6 and 8 hours). The results showed that the treatment provided a concentration of gibberellin 500 mg/L had a significant effect on germination age, plant height, stem diameter, shoot growth rate percentage, shoot dry weight and root dry weight. The immersion time of 6 hours significantly accelerated the lifespan of the shoots and increased the percentage of shoot growth speed. The interaction of a gibberellin concentration of 500 mg/L and a immersion period of 4 hours significantly increased the dry weight of plant roots.
