Respon Pertumbuhan Embrio Kacang Tanah (Arachis Hypogaea L.) terhadap Iradiasi Sinar Gamma secara in Vitro
Growth Response of Peanut Embryos (Arachis Hypogaea L.) to Gamma Irradiation in Vitro
Abstract
The aim of the study was to determine the response of peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.) embryo growth to gamma irradiation. This research was conducted at the Alifa Agricultural Research Center Laboratory (ALIFA ARC) and the Physiology and Plant Tissue Culture Laboratory, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of North Sumatra, from October 2023 to January 2024. The completely randomized design (CRD) was used with 1 factor. The first factor was the gamma irradiation (0 Gy/ control, 100 Gy, and 200 Gy). The parameters observed were the percentage of live explants, wet weight, stem diameter, planlet length, number of shoots, number of leaves, size of stomatal length and width, and stomatal density. The results showed that the dose of gamma irradiation significantly affected the parameters of wet weight, stem diameter, planlet length, number of shoots, and number of leaves. Based on the results of the study showed that a dose of 200 Gy on gamma irradiation could increase wet weight, stem diameter, and number of leaves on the growth of peanut in vitro.
