Mangosteen is a fruit plant that has promising business prospects in the future. However, providing seeds is still a problem due to their vulnerability to death during the seeding period. Tissue culture can be a solution for providing seeds without worrying about environmental impacts. This research aims to determine the effect of giving BAP and GA3 and their interaction using seed explants to grow shoots. This research was carried out at the Plant Biotechnology Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, University of North Sumatra. Implementation time is from January to March 2024. The experimental design used in this research is a factorial completely randomized plan (CRD) consisting of 2 treatment factors with each treatment having 3 replications, namely 0 ppm BAP, 0 ppm BAP (B0G0), 0 ppm BAP 1.5 ppm GA3 (B0G1), 0 ppm BAP 3 ppm GA3 (B0G2), 3 ppm BAP 0 ppm GA3 (B1G0). 3 ppm BAP 1.5 ppm GA3 (B1G1), 3 ppm BAP 3 ppm GA3 (B1G2), 5 ppm BAP 0 ppm GA3 (B2G0), 5 ppm BAP 1.5 ppm GA3 (B2G1), 5 ppm BAP 3 ppm GA3 (B2G2), the parameters observed in this study included, percentage of explants forming shoots (%), percentage of dead explants (%), days of shoot emergence, shoot height, number of adventitious shoots, number of leaves, number of roots, and root length. The results showed that the combination of BAP and GA3 had a significant effect on all parameters, except for the number of adventitious shoots, only the administration of BAP or GA3 had a significant effect. The B0G1 treatment gave the best results because it produced the fastest shoot emergence time, shoot height, number of leaves, number of roots and highest root length.
