    Abstract
Work termination pose a risk to the economic and social lives of employees and their families, including Tanjung Morawa B Village residents, who were previously company employees. Nonetheless, observations indicate that they appear to be surviving up to this point. This phenomenon has sparked an interest in conducting further research on their survival strategies. This study aims to describe the survival strategies of employees in Tanjung Morawa B Village who were affected by layoffs during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020. The study uses qualitative methods, with data collection techniques including in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. This research found that all layoff victims in Tanjung Morawa B Village employed various survival strategies such as austerity measures, engaging in alternative jobs or businesses, and leveraging existing social networks. The most common areas of cost-cutting included electricity, food, shopping, and water. This indicates that despite the challenging circumstances, they can manage their expenses for basic needs wisely. The most utilized social networks were neighbors, relatives, and acquaintances in government offices. Utilizing these social networks highlights the importance of solidarity and community support in times of crisis. Strong social relationships help them obtain the assistance and information necessary for survival. Furthermore, it was also found that most of them rely on mechanical solidarity, where bonds between individuals are based on similarbackgrounds and conditions. Only a small portion relied on organic solidarity, where bonds are based on diversity and interdependence. Mechanical solidarity appears to be more dominant because many of them share similar experiences andhardships, making it easier to help one another. With the various survival strategies they employ, the layoff victims in Tanjung Morawa B Village demonstrate remarkable adaptability in facing difficult situations. This study provides importantinsights into how local communities can survive and even thrive amidst crises andthe crucial role of social support in this process.
