dc.description.abstractPaper pallets made from Composite Core Papers (CCP) are one type of pallets that are environmentally friendly compared to other pallets. However, its strength is relatively lower, one of the reasons is the type of adhesive used. The adhesives commonly used in the manufacture of CCP are natural adhesives that have a lower adhesive bonding strength than synthetic adhesives. One of the objectives of this research is to determine the adhesive bonding strength of dextrin before and after adding nano silica powder. The adhesive bonding strength was determined by shear test based on ASTM D 905, the shear test data was then analyzed with ANOVA. After that, SEM and Image-J observations were also made for the area of adhesive-cohesive failure and the shape of the fracture in the glue. The shear test results of sample S5 has adhesive bonding of 1.605 MPa, sample S1 of 1.511 MPa, sample S2 of 2.012 MPa, sample S3 of 1.329 MPa, and sample S4 of 1.578 MPa. The results of ANOVA analysis showed an effect caused by the addition of nano silica on the adhesive bonding strength of dextrin glue. The results of the Image-J observation of the adhesive-cohesive failure area for sample S5 are 4.659%, sample S1 is 21.317%, sample S2 is 1.398%, sample S3 is 28.276%, and sample S4 is 21.827%. From this data, there is a directly proportional relationship with the level of adhesive bonding strength. In this case, the higher the adhesive bonding strength, the smaller the adhesive failure area.en_US
