Analisis Pengaruh Dispersion Compensating Fiber (DCF) pada Link Optik Single Mode Fiber Menggunakan Penguat EDFA
Analysis of the Effect of Dispersion Compensating Fiber (DCF) on Single Mode Fiber Optical Link Using EDFA Amplifier
Abstract
Optical fiber is a type of cable widely used in the telecommunications sector. In optical fibers there are dispersion symptoms that can occur due to the propagation of pulses in optical fibers that can affect the quality of the signal in optical fibers. Dispersion compensating fiber (DCF) is a compensator that can be used to help with dispersion problems because it can improve the performance of optical links. In this study, single mode fiber with a distance of 500 km to 1000 km is used. The scheme used in this study is an optical link without DCF, pre compensating and post compensating of three schemes using Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifier (EDFA). At the end of the study using a bit rate of 10 Gbps, the best scheme used to handle dispersion is the pre compensating and post compensating scheme. The optical link scheme without DCF produces a very large dispersion so that the highest Q Factor value only reaches 4.0105 with a BER value of 3.10 x 10-05 at a distance of 500 km so the value obtained only reaches 66.6% and drops to 33.3% . The pre-compensation scheme can handle dispersion only up to a distance of 500 km with a Q Factor value of 6.2123 and a BER value of 4.24 x 10-10 so that at the highest value it reaches 100% and down to 50%. the post compensation scheme can handle the dispersion only up to a distance of 500 km with a Q Factor value of 6.2594 and a BER value of 3.15 x 10-10 so that at the highest value it has reached 100% and has decreased to 50%.
