Abstract

Designing a student activity center as a vital indicator in achieving synergistic and positive educational goals within the campus environment is crucial. The USU Arena is envisioned to meet the needs of users who possess active, creative, and innovative qualities. The concept of place making and universal design serves as the primary foundation in the design of this building, with the aim of creating an environment that supports user creativity exploration. Place making refers to the effort to create spaces that are engaging, diverse, and interactive, fostering identity, connections, and satisfaction among its inhabitants. Thus, the form and facilities of the USU Arena are planned in a manner that reflects and encourages creativity and innovation among the student community. The building will highlight elements that facilitate social interaction, collaboration, and the exchange of ideas among students. Spacious and flexible open spaces will serve as the hub of activities, allowing various types of events and meetings to occur seamlessly. Additionally, modern technological facilities will be integrated to support both academic and non-academic activities, as well as to facilitate interactive and creative learning. Beyond serving as a venue for formal activities, the USU Arena will also offer spaces for informal gatherings and recreation. Outdoor recreation areas and sports facilities will promote a healthy and active lifestyle among students. Overall, the design of the USU Arena aims to create an environment that stimulates personal and intellectual growth, while also promoting active engagement in campus life and the wider community.
