Perancangan SMK Berasrama di Kecamatan Sibolangit, Kabupaten Deli Serdang dengan Pendekatan Arsitektur Hijau
Designing a Boarding School in Sibolangit District, Deli Serdang Regency with Green Architecture Approach
Abstract
Indonesia is a tropical country with natural beauty and abundant resources. With
fertile soil and a good marine ecosystem, agriculture should be the country's forte.
Sibolangit is one of the leading agricultural locations on the island of Sumatra, where
agriculture itself is the main source of livelihood for the locals. However, the latest
education that can maximise and excel agriculture itself is not obtained by the locals
and they only rely on traditional knowledge passed down from generation to
generation. Therefore, the presence of this agriculture-based boarding vocational
school can help children who want to continue and develop their parents' business.
This vocational school can help students who prefer to go straight into the world of
work after graduating from their studies. This research uses qualitative and
quantitative methods starting with location survey, zone division, space pattern
realisation, space requirement, mass conversion, and space programme adaptation to
mass. The mission of the design of this boarding school located in Sibolangit District,
Deli Serdang Regency is to plan a boarding school design that pays attention to its
relationship with the surrounding environment and nature, planning a good
relationship between schools, dormitories, surrounding buildings, and nature.
Applying the Green Architecture theme can maximise the use of lighting, natural
ventilation, and the use of local vegetation in proportion to the context of the
surrounding environment which is dominated by the function of green open space.
