Located on the seashore and rich in natural beauty, Sibolga City can be developed as a marine tourism area. Apart from marine tourism areas, tourist areas that can be developed include camping grounds, botanical gardens, culinary centers and Mancakrida. To support these activities, research is needed on sources of activities and space programs that can later be completed in the form of cottages. Sibolga City is a city that has a quite hot climate. Tropical Architecture serves to solve climate problems. The climate factors covered here include sun, rainfall, air humidity, and wind direction. This research is useful for developing the natural and environmental potential of Sibolga City which has the opportunity to build cottages and recreational facilities, develop knowledge about commercial residential models integrated with recreational facilities as a system that is integrated with nature in an effort to sustain the economy, and develop knowledge about technological developments to the energy used. To achieve this, a process is needed in the form of interviews, location surveys, and conducting comparative studies. After that, a cottage design and recreation area will be obtained using a Tropical Architecture theme to become a new recreation area in Sibolga City.en_US
