dc.description.abstract | The addition of distributed generation in an electrical system is a solution to enhance its reliability. However, the integration of distributed generation will alter the magnitude of full-load currents and short-circuit fault currents in the electrical system. Directional overcurrent relays become reliable protection equipment to safeguard the changing system. This study focuses on coordinating directional overcurrent protection systems with the addition of distributed generation in the IEEE 14 bus plant using the ANFIS (Adaptive Neuro Fuzzy Inference System) and MAPSO (Modified Adaptive Particle Swarm Optimization) methods. The IEEE 14 bus plant is a looped electrical system comprising 14 buses and 5 synchronous generators. The research findings indicate that the optimization methods of ANFIS and MAPSO in the looped electrical system with distributed generation represent appropriate coordination. The total relay operation time under near-end and far-end conditions shows that the MAPSO method is more optimal compared to ANFIS, as evidenced by the shorter operation time with MAPSO compared to ANFIS. The total relay operation time under near-end conditions with the MAPSO method is 7.165 s, which is more optimal than ANFIS at 9.736 s, while under far-end conditions, the MAPSO optimization method is 14.351 s, more optimal than ANFIS at 19.527 s. | en_US |
