dc.description.abstractThis acetic acid production plant from acetaldehyde and air with acetaldehyde oxidation process has a production capacity of 25,000 tons/year and operates for 330 days a year. The main process in this plant design consists of three stages, namely the preparation of raw materials, the formation of acetic acid (oxidation process), and the separation and purification of acetic acid. The reaction is the reaction of acetaldehyde and air with manganese acetate catalyst which takes place in a multitube fixed bed reactor at a temperature of 150oC. The amount of acetaldehyde required to achieve annual production capacity is 24,790.815 kg/hour. The location of the planned plant is in Banaran Village, Banyuputih District, Batang Regency, Central Java Province. with a total plant area of 12,485.940 m2. Water needs in this factory are supplied from the Bengawan Solo River as much as 34.763,144 kg/hour. The planned form of company organization is a Limited Liability Company (PT) with a line and staff organizational structure, and a total of 200 employees. The economic analysis results on this preliminary plant design are as follows: • Capital Investment (CI) = Rp 1.141.649.833.203 • Total Cost (TC) = Rp 728.127.818.880 • Profit Margin (PM) = 36,436% • Break Even Point (BEP) = 26,309% • Return On Investment (ROI) = 24,290% • Pay Out Time (POT) = 4 tahun 1 bulan • Return On Network (RON) = 40,484% • Internal Rate of Return (IRR) = 26,687% Based on the results of the economic analysis, it can be concluded that the factory for making acetic acid from acetaldehyde and air using the acetaldehyde oxidation process is feasible to be established.en_US
