In the era of information that continues to develop rapidly, the increasing demand for high transmission capacity on communications networks plays a key role in supporting connectivity. In particular, Radio over Fiber (RoF) networks have emerged as a very potential solution in integrating wireless communication technology with fiber optics. In RoF transmission, Radio Frequency (RF) signals are modulated into optical signals using RF modulators such as Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM). To increase transmission capacity, multiplexing techniques are needed to send large amounts of data in a short time. The multiplexing technique that can be used is Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM). Currently, WDM has developed into Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM). With the development of the multiplexing technique, this research carried out a comparison between the WDM and DWDM multiplexing techniques to see which performance is the best between the two multiplexing techniques. In improving performance in WDM and DWDM systems, it can be seen from the Bit Error Rate (BER) and Q Factor values. In this research, the Radio over Fiber system measures the Q Factor and BER values of WDM and DWDM systems with bitrate variations of 6 Gbps to 10 Gbps and distances of 50 km to 200 km. From all experiments, the DWDM system has superior performance compared to WDM. This is proven by the adequate bitrate value on the WDM system only reaching 6 Gbps with a maximum distance of 100 km while on DWDM it can reach 7 Gbps with a maximum distance of 100 km where the maximum Q-Factor performance value on DWDM is 6.42671, BER 1.8 x 10-10.. The greater the bitrate and distance values obtained, the faster and more efficiently the data will be transmitted. Using a DWDM system can be a solution in increasing transmission capacity compared to WDM.en_US
