Peran Politik Anggota Legislatif Perempuan dalam Proses Pengambilan Kebijakan di DPRD Kabupaten Karo Periode 2019-2024

Abstract

This thesis is motivated by the fact that the number of female legislative members in the Karo Regency DPRD has fulfilled the 30% quota requirement. Of the 9 political parties, there is at least one female member as a representative spread across the Karo Regency DPRD seats. Even in this period, the one who was elected as chairman of the Karo Regency DPRD for the 2019-2024 period was Irriani Br Tarigan who is a woman. This shows that there has been an increase in women's representation in the Karo Regency legislature compared to the previous period. This is certainly very interesting to research considering that the Karo Regency DPRD has fulfilled the quota requirements of 30% for women's representation in parliament and is led by a woman as chairman of the Karo Regency DPRD for the 2019-2024 period. This means that there is an increase in women's participation in the political process as well as public awareness of the important role of women in decision making for policies in their regions. Their role covers various aspects, especially in representing women's interests, fighting for gender issues, and contributing to regional development. It is important to note that the role of women DPRD members in Karo District, as elsewhere, can vary depending on local context, political party commitments, and regional political priorities. However, whether fulfilling the 30% quota for women's representation in DPRD seats and when it is led by women can be a guarantee that women have played a full role in every political process in Karo district or is it just a formality in fulfilling the provisions?. This research uses qualitative research methods and is presented in descriptive form. The data collection techniques that researchers will use in this research are through observation, interviews and documentation.This thesis aims to explain the political role played by female legislative members in policy making in the Karo Regency DPRD in the 2019 - 2024 period, and to find out what factors influence female legislative members to be able to play a role in policy making in the Karo Regency DPRD in the 2019 period. - 2024.
