This research aims to analyze the iron metal content in drilled well water in the Medan-Pancing area and use palm oil shell activated carbon to reduce the iron (Fe) metal content in drilled well water. To see the effect of palm oil shell activated carbon in reducing metal levels in mass variations with adsorption contact times of 3 grams 30 minutes, 4 grams 60 minutes and 5 grams 90 minutes, to see the percentage (%) reduction in heavy metal levels Iron (Fe) before and after adding activated carbon from palm kernel shells. From the results of this research, it was found that a mass variation of 4 grams with a contact time of 60 minutes was the optimum time due to the percentage (%) reduction of 96.34%. Based on the Regulation of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia Number 492/Menkes/Per/IV/2010 concerning drinking water quality requirements, the permitted concentration for iron metal is 0.3 mg/L.
