Preliminary Design of a Precipitated Calcium Carbonate Manufacturing Plant from Limestone Through The Carbonation Process with a Capacity of 100,000 Tons/Year and Special Tasks of Detailed Reactor Engineering Design
Abstract
The production of precipitated calcium carbonate from limestone using the carbonation method with operating conditions of 70 ℃ temperature and 3 atm pressure in a bubble reactor.
The planned precipitated calcium carbonate manufacturing plant is expected to operate with a production capacity of 100,000 tons/year, using limestone as raw material as much as 17,782.91 kg/hour. This factory is expected to replace 50% of the precipitated calcium carbonate needs in Indonesia, which has so far depended on import gate.
It is also planned that this precipitated calcium carbonate manufacturing plant will be in the form of a limited liability company (PT). With a line and staff organizational structure and a total workforce of 123 people.
The economic analysis results for the precipitated calcium carbonate manufacturing plant from limestone obtained are as follows:
• Total Capital Investmen = Rp 241.344.916.191,21
• Total Production Cost = Rp 602.122.043.797,21
• Sales Revenue = Rp 763.400.000.000,00
• Net Profit = Rp 129.022.364.962,23
• Profit Margin = 16,90%
• Break Even Point = 30,34%
• Return on Investment = 43,46%
• Return on Network = 76,37%
• Internal Rate of Return = 26.19%
• Pay Out Time = 1,57 Tahun
Based on the economic analysis results, it can be concluded that the precipitated calcium carbonate manufacturing plant from limestone is feasible.
