Analisis Pengaruh Penggunaan Kompensator Dispersi Fiber Bragg Grating pada Sistem Transmisi Radio Over Fiber Menggunakan Optical Modulator Eksternal
Analysis of the Effect of Using a Bragg Grating Fiber Dispersion Compensator on Over Fiber Radio Transmission Systems Using an External Optical Modulator
Abstract
Radio Over Fiber (RoF) is a combination of wireless technology and fiber optic networks. In Radio Over Fiber transmission, there are widening consequences that can cause Intersymbol Interference (ISI) which causes the system to be undetectable due to overlapping output pulses. The appropriate solution to address this issue is the application of Fiber Bragg Grating components, which play a role in enhancing optical communication performance. This study discusses the impact of Radio Over Fiber transmission systems before and after the addition of Fiber Bragg Grating dispersion compensators, as well as compares two types of external modulators, MZM and EAM, using NRZ and RZ line coding. At the end of the research, using a bit rate of 10 Gbps, the best scheme for handling dispersion is found to be the addition of an FBG compensator using an external MZM modulator with NRZ line coding, resulting in a Q-factor value of 21.9653 and a BER value of 2.81 x 10-107 for a distance range of 50 km. The scheme without the addition of FBG results in greater dispersion and can only reach a distance range of 50 km with a Q-factor of 6.64201 and a BER value of 4.75 x 10-12. Thus, the percentage increase before and after adding the FBG dispersion compensator for the 50 km test parameter using EDFA amplification is 69.7%.
