Batang Toru River is a river that is widely used for agricultural, plantation and industrial needs in the form of gold mining, oil palm plantations, and rubber plantations. As a result of these various activities, river water pollution can occur. Heavy metals are one of the pollutants that are difficult to degrade. Shrimp is one of the aquatic organisms that are vulnerable to environmental changes, especially heavy metals. This study aims to determine the content of heavy metals such as arsenic, cadmium, lead and mercury in shrimp from the Batang Toru River. The heavy metal analysis method used was Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometric (AAS). The results showed that the results of heavy metals from Macrobrachium sp. and Panaeus monodon species have not exceeded the maximum limit of heavy metal contamination in food according to SNI/7387/2009. The highest heavy metal results were at station 3, namely 0.55 mg/L for Macrobrachium sp. species and at station 2, namely 0.38 mg/L for Macrobranchium Latidactylus species.
