    Abstract
Plastic waste is a problem in Indonesia that will never end. Efforts to reduce plastic use can be made by implementing plastic hazard mitigation measures with the 4R principle. Generation Z is one of the largest contributors to plastic waste. This research aims to find out actions to mitigate the dangers of plastic among Generation Z students at the Faculty of Public Health, University of North Sumatra. This type of research is descriptive survey research. The results showed that students were 19 years old (83.8%), female (71.3%), and lived in urban areas (46.4%). The type of plastic used is plastic bags (61.3%), the amount of plastic produced per day is 1-2 pcs (58.8%), plastic is sourced from supermarkets/markets (73.8%), and plastic waste is handled using transported by officers (60.0%). The reduce principle mitigation action is in the less category, namely 43 students (53.8%), the reuse principle mitigation action is in the less category, namely 49 students (61.3%), the recycling principle mitigation action is in the less category, namely 63 students (78, 8%), the mitigation action on the replace principle is in the sufficient category, namely 32 students (40.0%) and the mitigation action on the 4R principle in generation Z is in the insufficient category, 55 students (68.8%). The implementation of plastic hazard mitigation measures among students at the Faculty of Public Health is still relatively lacking, so it is hoped that the Faculty of Public Health will provide outreach and education regarding plastic hazard mitigation measures using the 4R principles, students are also expected to play an active role in reducing the use of plastic through the 4R principles, and this research It is hoped that it can provide input for the Environmental Service in determining policies to reduce plastic waste
