    Abstract
Background: Presbyopia is a visual impairment that is a very disturbing problem in people‘s lives, this is due to a person‘s inability to see objects or read writing at close range as they get older. Increasing age will cause a decrease in MnSOD levels, where MnSOD is the main antioxidant enzyme that can protect cells from oxidative damage by converting superoxide anion radicals into hydrogen peroxide and oxygen in the mitochondria. Objective: This study aims to analyze the relationship between MnSOD levels and the degree of presbyopia at Prof. Hospital. Dr. USU CPL. Materials and Methods: This research is an analytical study with a cross-sectional research design. Using a sample of 45 people at the Refractive Eye Clinic, Prof. Dr. Chairuddin Panusunan Lubis (CPL) USU and network hospitals. This research will begin to be carried out from October 2023 until the sample size is met. Results: The largest gender was female, 30 people (66.7%). With severe presbyopia, there were 28 people (62.2%). The mean MnSOD level was 18.5. The results of the Mann Whitney test showed that there was no significant relationship between DM and the degree of presbyopia (p=0.619). The results of the Mann Whitney test showed that there was no significant relationship between the duration of DM and the degree of presbyopia (p=0.179). The results of the Independent T test showed that there was no significant relationship between MnSOD levels and the degree of presbyopia in subjects with DM (p=0.067). Conclusion: There is no relationship between Diabetes Mellitus and the degree of presbyopia. MnSOD levels do not affect the degree of presbyopia
