    Abstract
Background: Pre-XDR-TB and XDR-TB are still one of the health problems in Indonesia. Treatment rates and treatment success rate are quite low, as well as high mortality rates that need serious attention. Therefore, it is necessary to find out the factors associated with the incidence of pre-XDR and XDR-TB. Objective: To find out the factors associated with the incidence of pre-XDR and XDR-TB at the H Adam Malik General Hospital, Medan Methods: This study is a descriptive analytic study using medical records of Drug-Sensitive, MDR, RR, pre-XDR and XDR-TB outpatients at the MDR-TB clinic H Adam Malik General Hospital Medan. Medical records used as samples were taken from patients aged over 18 years starting from October 2019 to June 2022. Results: From total 205 sample, 15 of them were pre-XDR-TB patients and 1 was XDR-TB patients. There was a significant relationship between age (p=0.044), previous history of Anti Tuberculosis Treatment (ATT) (p<0.001), and smoking history (p=0.005) with the incidence of pre-XDR-TB and XDR-TB. Based on multivariate analysis, the variables that had a significant effect on pre-XDR-TB and XDR in this study were age (p = 0.018) and previous history of ATT (p < 0.001). Conclusion: Age and previous history of ATT were significantly associated with the incidence of pre-XDR and XDR-TB. While, gender, educational level, occupation, and comorbidities were not associated with the incidence of pre-XDR and XDR-TB.
