    Abstract
Background: Cellulite is a chronic non-inflammatory disease that is often found in women which is characterized orange peel, cottage cheese and mattress-like appearance on the buttocks and thighs. Estradiol (E2) together with estrone (E1) and estriol (E3) are included in the group of sex steroids, namely estrogen. Estradiol is associated with hypertrophy of adipocytes, collagen and elastin which are contribute to cellulite. Aims: To determine the correlation between serum estradiol levels and severity of cellulite. Subjects and Methods: This cross-sectional observational study involved on 40 female cellulite subjects based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. Each subjects got a medical history check, a dermatological exam, cellulite severity was determined by the Photonumeric Cellulite Severity Scale (PCSS). Blood testing to determine their estradiol levels using an ELISA test. The correlation between serum estradiol levels and the severity of cellulite was analyzed using the Gamma correlation test and significant if pvalue <0.05. Results: Most cellulite subjects were found 36–45 years (42.5%), had a family history of cellulite from their mother (42,5%). The mean estradiol level in cellulite was 263.70 ± 61.85 pg/mL. The result of the study showed a positive correlation (p<0.05) with strong strength between serum estradiol levels and severity of cellulite (r=0.655). A positive correlation shows the higher the serum estradiol level, the more severe severity of cellulite. Conclusion: The serum estradiol levels pand severity of cellulite have strong correlation.
